welcome!

WindRose Pintos is a private breeding farm, located 50 minutes West of Rhinelander, Wisconsin.  We breed for sturdy, docile, hardy, and beautiful Gypsy cross horses!  We also imprint the foals at birth, so they are sweet, friendly and easy to train right from the beginning.  We look forward to providing you with a horse that will be suitable for your entire family, no matter what age or size of the rider.

Thank you for stopping by; we look forward to meeting you!

how it all began:

I, like many, have always dreamed of owning a Gypsy Vanner.  These horses are truly gorgeous; but even more attractive to me than their beauty is their loving, sweet, mellow, easy to train and eager to please temperament.
Many have asked why I don't breed purebred Gypsies.  I love the purebred Gypsy!  However, I knew I wouldn't be able to keep the TONS of beautiful mane, tail, and leg feathering clean.  Also, there is no way I could afford the purchase prices of these beautiful horses.  So, for me, the choice was simple; I chose to breed 1/2 Gypsies so I could still have the beauty and brains of the purebred, but also have a lower maintenance horse and be able to provide them the care they need.  Later on, after learning more about the breed, I discovered the purebred Gypsy is also susceptible to a few health issues, which are outlined below:
"Scratches: These crusty scabs on a horse's legs can lead to lower leg swelling and lameness.
Malleanders and Sallenders: If a horse's body produces too much keratin (which is what drives the growth of the Gypsy's thick feathering), it can cause thick, crusted growths on the front and hind legs that need to be removed and actively managed, or they can result in bacterial and fungal infections.
Chronic Progressive Lymphedema: This condition causes significant lower-leg swelling as the skin on a horse's legs can become thicker and lymph fluid starts to build up in the legs.  There's no cure for this condition and the swelling will continue to progress during a horse's life."

Granted, not all purebred Gypsy Vanners are afflicted with these ailments; but I needed definite lower maintenance horses.  I'm very happy to say that I've not seen any of these health issues in my 1/2 Gypsies, but have seen all of the positives of the Gypsy Vanner breed (ie: beautiful, gentle, calm, sweet, easy to train, etc).

I know there are many who wish to have purebred Gypsies only, and I'm very happy they have the time and finances to live that dream.  However, I chose to own and breed toward a more family-friendly Gypsy, in both purchase price and in ease of care.

So.....whether you choose a purebred Gypsy, a 1/2 Gypsy, or a Gypsy Sport, it's my ultimate hope that you will find the horse of your dreams, as well!
If we at WindRose Pintos can help you fulfill that dream, please let us know; we look forward to meeting and serving you!

Sincerely,

Some of our broodmares!

How do I receive the salvation of Christ?

Acknowledge that God has not been first in your life, and ask Him to forgive your sins.

1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Believe that Jesus died to pay for your sins and that He rose again, and is alive today.

Romans 10:9: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Accept God’s free gift of salvation. Don’t try to earn it.

Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Allow Jesus Christ to come into your life and be the Lord (“Director”) of your life.

John 1:12-13: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

If you would like to receive God's forgiveness for your sin and begin living your life for Him, please pray this prayer:

"Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
